Project H.O.P.E. (Helping Our People in Emergencies) is a program that helps survivors cope with the aftermath of a major disaster. It is provided by the Mental Health Association of East Central Florida, Inc. and funded by the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) under the auspices of the State of Florida. You may call us to set up a confidential appointment.
- Provide emotional support to disaster survivors
- Refer individuals with unmet needs to resources for assistance
- Help people reestablish their feelings of control, competence, self-sufficiency and effectiveness that were damaged by disaster
- Assist survivors to establish a recovery plan and return to their pre-disaster level of functioning
- Provide education and information regarding emotional reaction to disasters to affected populations
- Assist in developing community supports for survivors of disaster
